At the last Trade & Export Finance webinar, partner Geoffrey Wynne addressed the topic of Irrevocable/Independent Payment Undertaking, commonly known as the IPU. An IPU is a payment obligation, usually given by the buyer of goods and services to the seller, and not by a third party (e.g. guarantor) and not to a third party (e.g. financier).
