2022 has been an exciting year in the digital world and with development of the Metaverse now underway and NFTs becoming one of the hottest topics of discussion, suffice it to say we have truly moved into the digital age.

With so many changes, it can be difficult to keep track of what’s happening and what you need to know about the whole thing – but there are already some clear trends that are worth monitoring in the months and years to come . Here we take a look at five of the biggest.

Cryptocurrency and Blockchain

Blockchain
With crypto being needed almost everywhere to buy NFTs, virtual real estate and the like, and their blockchain technology in high demand, their popularity is likely to soar to unprecedented heights

The global appetite for cryptocurrency is nothing new, and despite the market volatility that has led to some massive price crashes this year, the number of those using trading platforms like BitIndex Prime has continued to grow. It’s become abundantly clear that cryptocurrencies are here to stay, and as the metaverse progresses, it’s becoming increasingly important for brands and businesses, as well as individual investors and traders.

The Metaverse and blockchain games could merge over the next year, creating decentralized networks based on separate chains of interacting blocks that could increase the accessibility of brand assets and take them beyond the most popular virtual worlds.

With crypto being needed almost everywhere to buy NFTs, virtual real estate and the like, and their blockchain technology in high demand, their popularity is likely to soar to unprecedented heights.

While the metaverse is far from complete, virtual worlds are already popping up everywhere, and users are embracing them wholeheartedly. With this in mind, it’s clear that luxury brands of all stripes need to follow suit and create an updated strategy that puts an emphasis on the metaverse and the many ways it can be used to their advantage.

We’re already seeing some of the biggest and most desirable brands in the world dipping their toes in the water, and from launching crypto concept stores to creating NFTs, there seems to be little limit to what’s possible. Over the next year, brand adoption – especially in luxury areas – will continue to expand and the way we shop and consume may soon change.

Roblox is an online gaming platform and game creation system that allows users to program their own games and play the games developed by other users. Roblox has been making waves in the tech world lately. As games continue to evolve into a more multi-layered experience that goes beyond simple gaming and also includes web browsing and socializing, Roblox has proven to be one of the most forward-thinking companies in its field, and has garnered immense popularity among users – but they’re not the only ones who want a piece of the Roblox pie.

We’ve already seen some big-name collaborations, with the likes of Gucci teaming up with the platform to create their “Gucci Garden,” where they showcased a range of their hero products in a digital avatar, and paved the way for many others remarkable partnerships will follow.

Virtual music events via platforms like Roblox and Fortnite are also on the rise and have provided musicians and artists with a new way to reach and connect with their fan bases. Having started during the pandemic at a time when physical concerts and shows were not on the agenda, many continue to take the opportunity to perform in front of fans who might otherwise not have had the chance to see them live, while giving them a go authentic feeling experience that really makes them feel like they’re in the same stadium.

Musical NFTs have also seen tremendous growth this year, providing an alternative revenue stream for artists and allowing them to sell their EPs and albums direct to fans without having to rely on record labels and streaming platforms.

Fashion

As previously mentioned, big name luxury fashion brands like Gucci have been among the fastest to embrace the metaverse, cryptocurrency and the digital world as a whole, with some exciting projects emerging from unique collaborations that are transforming the way we shop .

Alongside Gucci’s foray alongside Roblox, we’ve also seen Philipp Plein open the world’s first crypto concept store in London, while last year Louis Vuitton launched its own mobile game with 30 NFTs in honor of its 200th birthday.

Increasingly, we can expect customers to shop in immersive online environments, browse photorealistic images of clothing and accessories, and eventually even try them on for size. It’s certainly an exciting time for the fashion world and we will see a growing number of high-end brands looking to invest in virtual space in the coming months and years to stay relevant and provide an enhanced customer experience.
